Homeschool Planner - Andrew & Hannah Hatton
The short version: Homeschool Planner does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on any server we control. Everything stays on your device.
Homeschool Planner is a free, open-source desktop application created by Andrew & Hannah Hatton. It is designed to help homeschooling families plan lessons, track subjects, and organise their school week.
If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact us at andrew@thehattons.co.
We collect no data. Homeschool Planner is a locally-installed desktop application. All information you enter - students, subjects, lessons, schedules, grades - is stored exclusively in a local database file on your own computer. That data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
We do not use analytics, crash-reporting services, advertising networks, or any other form of data collection.
Homeschool Planner offers an optional Google Calendar integration. If you choose to use it, the following applies:
You can disconnect your Google account at any time from the app's Preferences, or by revoking access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Disconnecting deletes the locally stored token.
The application writes diagnostic log files to a local folder on your device. These logs record app events (such as startup and navigation actions) to help with troubleshooting. Log files are stored locally only and are never transmitted to us automatically, only in the event that you submit a bug report and attach the log files will we ever see this data. You can access and delete them at any time through File > Open Logs Folder within the app.
The application may check GitHub's public API to determine whether a newer version is available. This request is made from your device to GitHub's servers and may expose your IP address to GitHub. No personal information from the app is included in this request. This behaviour is subject to GitHub's Privacy Statement.
Homeschool Planner is intended for use by parents and adult educators. It is not directed at, and should not be used independently by, children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Because we collect no data from anyone, there is no data to delete, but if you have concerns please contact us at the address below.
Because we do not collect personal data, most data-subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) apply only to data on your own device, which you control entirely.
If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / UK GDPR) may apply to you. In that case:
If you are located in Australia, the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) may apply. If you are located in New Zealand, the Privacy Act 2020 and Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) may apply. In either case, because no personal information is collected by us, there is no information held by us to access or correct.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Because the app checks for updates via GitHub, significant changes will also be noted in the application changelog.
