1. About the Application
Homeschool Planner is a free, locally-installed desktop application created by Andrew & Hannah Hatton to help homeschooling families plan lessons, track subjects, and organise their school week. The source code is publicly available at hsrc.thehattons.co.
2. License and Permitted Use
Homeschool Planner is provided free of charge for personal, family, and educational use. You are welcome to:
- Install and use the application on any device you own or control.
- Share the installer with other homeschooling families.
- View and fork the source code for personal learning or to contribute improvements.
You may not:
- Sell, sublicense, or distribute the application as part of a paid product or service without explicit written permission from the authors.
- Remove or alter copyright notices or attributions.
- Use the application in a way that violates applicable laws.
3. No Warranty
Homeschool Planner is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the authors disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the application will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that defects will be corrected. You use the application at your own risk.
4. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the authors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, goodwill, or business, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the application - even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
5. Your Data
All data you enter into the application (student records, lesson plans, grades, etc.) is stored locally on your device. You are solely responsible for backing up your data. We are not responsible for data loss resulting from device failure, software errors, or any other cause. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how the application handles data.
6. Google Calendar Integration
The optional Google Calendar integration uses Google's OAuth 2.0 service. Your use of Google services is governed by Google's Terms of Service. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
7. Age Restriction
Homeschool Planner is intended for use by parents and adult educators aged 18 and over. It is not intended for use by children under 13. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to use the application on your behalf.
8. Modifications to the Application or Terms
We reserve the right to modify the application or these Terms of Service at any time. Updated terms will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the application after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State where the authors are resident, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights under applicable local law, including those arising under GDPR or the UK GDPR. If you are located in Australia, these terms are subject to the Australian Consumer Law (Competition and Consumer Act 2010, Schedule 2), which confers rights that cannot be excluded. If you are located in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 may confer rights that these terms do not limit.
